How Do I - Use JQL with Fancy Fields

Fancy Fields supports the Free Text Searcher from Atlassian, using the “~” operator.

If your JQL query results in an error like this:

then be sure to notify your Jira Administrator to request that they edit the Custom Field details in Jira and select the Search Template named ‘Free Text Searcher’:

You may need to re-index your instance after making this change.
